Environmental work at Västarvet

Västarvet complies with the environmental programme developed by Västra Götaland Region. This means that we aim for a low carbon footprint, a non-toxic environment, the sustainable use of resources and biodiversity.

A clear link has been established in the Region between health, the environment and the economy, and this influences our approach to key target areas. Of the seven target areas, Västarvet is included in five:

  • transport
  • energy
  • products and waste
  • chemicals
  • food products

Are you curious about the details? There is more information here about our work in the target areas.

There is a strong link between the environment and health, and the objective here is to prevent ill-health among the region's inhabitants. Work carried out in the areas of transport, energy and food is also linked to the growth strategy targets for Västra Götaland Region.

Comparison with others

Our administration also has an environmental management system to help managers make the right decisions on issues such as resource allocation, organisation, monitoring and accounting.

The administration's environmental report is submitted each year to the environmental secretariat, where it is compared with other administrations and is finally part of the overall environmental report for Västra Götaland Region.

Environmental diplomas

To consolidate the ongoing environmental approach, Västarvet has now started work with assessing our different units for environmental diplomas. The administration's environmental coordinator is responsible for this work, as well as providing support on environmental issues for the administration's management.
